Horse help

John helps horses with problems such as aggressive behaviour, biting, kicking, bargy horses, napping, shoeing, clipping, halter training, starting youngsters, riding away, loading and traffic phobias, nervous/untouched and traumatised horses. Also bucking and rearing horses (although with all cases pain has to be eliminated before any training can start).
All horses partake in a lot of groundwork as problems can start from the ground.
Horses can be ridden Western or English.
There have been many success stories due to John as sometimes he can be both horse and owners last place of call.

Visits...

The visit is a great way of assessing you and your horse for two reasons firstly, you and your horse will act naturally in your own environment, secondly you will be able to see exactly what John does and he will be able to show you how to continue with the work.
Visits last between 3-4hrs, during which time you will learn why your horse is behaving as he is and what he is actually thinking. Once you understand your horse, we then give advice on how to proceed and continue the work done on the visit enabling you to communicate and develop your relationship with your horse.

After the visit telephone back up is available should you have any further questions. This aftercare service is free of charge and available as long as you need it.
Horse training is an ongoing process, John gives you and your horse time to learn which will enable you to gain the trust and respect between you and your horse.

Schooling at Old Shawls Farm...

Youngsters and remedial horses can come to the yard, which in some cases is more beneficial due to the safe facilities at the farm.
Horses are trained on a weekly basis at the yard with the owner coming regularly at the end of each week to see the progress of the horse and to have a lesson.
It is up to the owner to decide when they feel they continue with the horse’s training. Horses can come for a week or a month depending entirely on the horse and owners needs.
We now only work with three to four horses per week at the yard so more time is spent with each horse.
Every horse is treated as an individual and cared for to the highest standard.
£225 per week - Inc Livery & Schooling/training, hay, bedding.
Also one horse and owner session at the end of each week
